Three completely unrelated observations from today: 1) Someone stuffed a brown cap through the letterbox. Is this a sign? I know I am embarrassingly unworldly and naïve; I once thought it quaint to see shoes thrown over telegraph wires and was told it was a drug-related sign. Is the brown cap a similar hidden message? 2) When I play Monopoly (btw I have won my two most recent games due to new strategy involving stations and a carefully monitored building allowance), when the chance/community chest card says bank error in your favour, I always guffaw in disbelief, BUT today I received that letter; thanks HSBC! 3) Am halfway through the latest Bridget Jones. I know it got mediocre reviews and also that Im a bit behind the time (had to wait for library copy, cant be seduced into buying books), but Im really enjoying it. The first two were meant to strike a chord with every 30-something woman, but this one seems to hit the vulnerabilities and ridiculousness of the whole set-up even more accurately. Feel reassured that my existence isnt so very unusual. Or is book-worthy - either is comforting.
