#ThrowBackThursdays Back in 2010, I came up with an innovative concept of a Social media shadow Government; complete with the position of the President ( Duncan Ogaro Mikae )and other shadow cabinet posts. We also had shadow County Governors and Senator whose roles were to represent their respective counties online (Thats where I got the FB Governor). The idea was to bring like minded Kenyans together and participate in positive and progressive discourse on good governance. The dream was to Inspire the youths online to be the change they wanted in the then anticipated new political dispensation(devolution) heralded by the promulgation of the new constitution. Together with my friends Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya (She is a proud Kenyan living abroad, different timezones and we skyped on crazy hours to make the idea work. She was nominated unanimously as our inaugural IEBC), Edwin Matenjwa, Samson Wanjohi , Benjamin K Waigwa, Stanley Kamwati we held our first free and fair online elections where the government was set up and ideas started flowing. Unfortunately, we got busy looking for our daily bread and the idea died a natural death after months of cabinet meetings. The dream however NEVER died. Our then President Duncan Ogaro proudly wrote to me recently informing that he was selected to represent Kenya in the Barack Obamas Young African Leaders Initiative in Washington! Congrats bro. Jubilee Party has now come up with same idea. Its a good platform for youths to engage and share ideas. A platform to take stock on our achievements and failures as youth in making the 5 Years of the Jubilee Government count - not to a few well connected young individuals but for the majority of the suffering Kenyan youth. Because parties come and go. Youthfulness will come and go. But our country will remain. Whatever we do, it should be in the countrys best interests.
