***Thunderstorm activity in Southern foothills racing north, additional showers and thunderstorms could develop overnight*** Burke Weather is monitoring the radar here as we approach 11:30 pm...we have an area of showers and thunderstorms along the NC/SC border moving northward at about 15 mph. Winds at the surface along with about 5,000 ft are out of the southeast tonight, there is some concern that we may have additional shower and thunderstorm development on the radar through the overnight due to the upslope flow. There is also some concern that storms may try to anchor themselves against the Blue Ridge which could result in some flash flooding if a specific area were to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over an extended period of time. Right now any threat of this would be on an isolated basis but we are at that time of the year where southeast flow events can occur in short notice without much warning from computer guidance producing significant rainfall totals. Everybody at Burke Weather will be keeping track of the radar through the overnight and if we see a potential dangerous weather situation developing, we will provide the info in a prompt manner.
