Thursday, September 19th, 2013 SJMS is on twitter and Facebook! Follow us on Twitter under the user name Jackman MS, and “Like” our page at facebook/SJMSRiverHawks. Stay connected with SJMS online! It’s the last week to vote for Samuel Jackman at Give With Target. Every vote is worth one dollar for our school, and we hope to raise at least $1000. As you can see on our goal tracker in the MPR, we’re just 2 votes shy of 100! We can still reach for our goal if everyone makes a big push to the finish. Share it on facebook, twitter, instagram, and email. Tell everyone you know about it, and please, please, please, go vote yourself. Just remember: every vote equals a dollar for the school! It’s never been so easy to raise money for your school – so why not? We are having our monthly parent lunch today. Parents and Guardians are invited to bring a special lunch to share with their children. Students will get a taste of something special, while family members can get a taste of Jackman. There will also be a raffle. The E1 computer lab will be open on Wednesday mornings from 7:15 am to the start of school. Ms. Harmon will be in the lab to assist students as they check school loop or work on school projects. It will NOT be for playing games or social media. NO food, drink, gum or candy will be allowed in the computer lab. Leadership students who need to complete their Principle presentation should consider this opportunity. Otter Pops will be available after school, on your way out, for 25 cents. Look for Mrs. Mutschler at the front gate. Please have change available. Thanks. Year Books are for sale, on reserve. They will be $20.00 until Oct. 31. Take advantage of this special price and order your Year Book Now. Fliers will be available in your first period class, in the Library, in the office and from Mrs. Mutschler in C-2. Order forms and money should be turned in to Mrs. Mutschler in C-2. The “No Activities Lists” have been posted in the library. Please return your books or pay your fines. If you don’t think you should be on the list, come see Ms. Meyer to check it out. The library is open before school, at brunch and lunch. It’s Thursday, so that means Club Live at lunch in K-1. Come sign our group agreements, and begin planning and preparing for red ribbon Week! Mr. Morris and Lily look forward to seeing Club Live members in K-1 at lunch today! ATTENTION 8th graders: We have 20 or so yearbooks left over from last year when you were 7th graders. They can be purchased for $20.00 from Mrs. Mutschler in C-2. ATTENTION ARTISTS: The Year Book is looking for COLORED, hand drawn, 5 by 7 or 8 by 10 pictures for the Year Book. They will be accepted until Halloween, Oct. 31, so that gives you 7 weeks to draw and color pictures for the yearbook. The pictures will be returned to you, if you would like. Send your art work to C-2. The school is also looking for a new design to put on Jackman spirit-wear like T-shirts and hoodies. Wouldn’t it be cool to see people wearing your artwork? Designs can be hand–drawn, or computer generated, and should include our school name or mascot, the River Hawk, and must use school colors. Artwork must include only 2 colors to be printed on the shirt (for instance, you might make a black and purple design to be printed on a white shirt, or white and black for a purple shirt, or purple and white for a black shirt). Artwork can be submitted to Mr. Morris, or the front office. Artwork must have artist’s name on it, and be received by the end of September. First period teachers will be distributing student IDs today. Only students who have turned in their internet forms will receive IDs. Students who were absent on picture day will not receive an ID today. If you do not receive your ID, please see Ms. Myer in the Library during open hours. IDs will be required to purchase dance and movie tickets, and to get in the door at such events. Your ID card will also be required for internet use in the computer lab and library, and to check out books. You won’t get far without it, so you should make sure to get that form signed, and get your ID soon. Replacement cards cost $5 dollars, so do your best not to lose the one you get. Your Caring message for the day: “If you want to do something good and feel a sense of pride in yourself, do something to help another person. Nothing will make you feel better about yourself.”
