Tip Of The Day: Grits Dummy; I dont eat out often, but when I do, breakfast is one of my favorites. However, I almost never order grits from the menu because they simply taste (if they have any taste at all) awful! When I visit friends for breakfast and they serve grits, I believe the cook from the restaurant stopped over and left his grits! So, today Im doing something I hardly ever do, Im giving you my recipe for grits! Single serving; 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup of water, 1/4 heaping tsp. salt, (dont over do it. Salt is poisonous to your body...why it attacks it with fluids), 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/2-1 table spoon of butter (dont ever use margarine). 3 table spoons of grits. Place all ingredients in a sauce pan together, stir and cook over medium heat, about 10-15 minutes (slowly), maybe a little longer. Stir often, there will be some popping (use of a bigger pot is recommended) of grits, no way around that. Texture should be smooth, not runny or too thick. If you need to add more fluid, use a little milk and add slowly as not to over do it. Let me know how your grits turn out. If you want to make cheese grits, always use a good cheddar or Mexican blend, never American cheese (which isnt real cheese at all)! Have A Great Day!
