Tip Time! This is one Ive been wanting to write about for some - TopicsExpress

Tip Time! This is one Ive been wanting to write about for some time now, but I wanted to make sure that I had some real world experience with it before I wrote. So there has been a lot of hype about these mason jar salads lately, and I wanted to take a run at it to see what I thought. I am a massive fan of food prep, so I figured this would be another bullet in the healthy eating chamber! I was right! I actually really enjoy this technique, but I do have a few personal tweaks that have helped me. The first thing I want to tweak is the use of the dressing. A lot of the popular posts state that you should put the salad dressing on the bottom so it stays there and doesnt make the salad soggy. I tried it, but I found that because I am moving around a lot in a day - much the same way that a lot of heavily active people do - that the dressing just ended up getting tossed around in the salad anyways. As an alternative to that, I used disposable dip containers with the lid to keep the dressing contained while Im out and about, and I simply just placed it on the top of the salad (sealed) before putting the lid on the mason jar. Now, the second tip/tweak that I have is in regards to the quantity. If you are in a position where you can empty out the contents of the jar into a bowl or plate, then skip this section. For those who dont have that option, I urge you to watch how much you are stuffing into the jar. It can get really difficult to mix around the salad in the jar to eat if it is overpacked. As far as the overall idea is concerned, I love it! It is incredibly convenient, and packs well. It is an awesome and innovative way to get a healthy dosing of your daily veggies/fruits in while you are on the move. Happy Training!
