To: CRST Chief of Police Dear Sir: I submitted the official incident report that you requested on my verbal allegation of police brutality against one of your officers, a white man named Reede, on Jan. 24th. That’s been nearly six weeks ago. Would you please advise me of your findings to date in writing or by telephone. That was the worst night of my nearly seventy years. If I don’t get some word soon, I’ll go before the tribal council with the White Shield vs. Garreau decision. I was taken from my residence, the Eagle Butte elderly manor, in the middle of the night, very tightly handcuffed on one wrist, in my slippers, with no jacket, to spend the night on your cold, hard, filthy, drunk tank floor, no running water, without a blanket of any kind, for over twelve long hours. My left wrist was swollen, lacerated and painful as the photos taken by your officer and the medical report will show. If you will not respond, you’re going to look really bad, and in the end, I’ll move by resolution in district council for your removal. Law and order on this reservation is a disgrace.
