To Jeremy, James, Richard, The Stig, The BBC, and of course Top Gear. I am a 24 year old Aussie male that has been a devoted fan of your show for the past decade and have seen every single episode and special of your show since its inception in 2002. I find it hilarious, informative, and always entertaining, and hope you continue on for many more years to come. The main reason I write this letter to you is to let you know of some sad motoring news in Australia, something I feel that you guys should know about. The Australian automotive industry is on the verge of collapse, with the increase of costs and the market shifting to more foreign made vehicles, we are losing two of our most prized and iconic names; The Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore as well as their respective ranges. The Ford Falcon has been manufactured by Ford Australia since 1960, being one of the most popular family sedans in our country, they are literally EVERYWHERE, but Ford announced recently that the production of the Falcon will cease in October 2016. Holden was founded in 1856 as a saddler manufacturer and moved onto the automotive field in 1908. The Holden Commodore has been a constant rival to the Ford Falcon in Australian society, with children growing up as either Ford supporters or Holden supporters; with a strong yet playful competition between their respective fans. The Commodore is the base model of the Holden Monaro, or the Vauxhall Monaro VX-R, as you call it over there, which all three presenters (Jeremy, James, and Richard) loved driving. Top Gear has had a special episode focusing on different Continents all around the globe, and I have enjoyed seeing various locales, such as Asia, Europe, The Americas, The Middle East, and even The Arctic Circle, but Australia is one Continent that seems to be forgotten. Australia has wondrous scenery and locations for a special similar to the ones previously mentioned, as well as challenging roads and tracks that I believe you guys would love. I put this to you, would you consider doing an ‘Australian Special’ before these Iconic Australian vehicles cease to exist, as a last ditch effort to save these names, or as a fitting tribute to an era of Australian motoring that it deserves. Regards, Daniel Evans
