To Ron Knop -- Im so grateful I had the chance to know you for the few years I did. You felt like family immediately, and I recognized your strong, cope-with-anything-veterans spirit and delightfully wacky sense of humor as being so like my own fathers. You felt like home. You welcomed me with open arms to your family, and were always a ray of light when I saw you. I thought often, I wish we had more opportunity to get to know each other. I wanted to hear more stories about your time in Eritrea, I wanted to see more of your photographs; I was honored every time you shared those with me. I was honored when you spoke highly of my art, and I was honored to sit at your table. Thank you for treating me with such love and kindness. Thank you for being such a model father to your family, and thank you for supporting and nurturing Daniels musical talents and endeavors. I am grateful to you and Barbara for that, as I am to my own parents for supporting and nurturing mine. Its not easy being parents, particularly being the parents of artists, but Im so grateful you were the father of an artist, and you accepted that role with such love and grace. Above all, I am so grateful you are free of pain and suffering. Bless your spirit, Papa. I love you.
