To whom it may concern, My name is Will Huffman and I purchased a 2011 Ford Taurus from Superior Ford Brookdale 02-25-13. I purchased the vehicle from Steve Rosenthal, the Special Finance Manager. I had received a flyer in the mail stating I was pre-approved for a car loan. My credit at the time was only a 620, so this was interesting news to me (to be pre-approved). I have never purchased a new to me vehicle from a dealer, I had always bought something off of Craigslist and fixed it up. I had also just started an amazingly awesome career. I have my own office with two computer screens and a door! I am flying high in life right now! That made this a very special purchase for me. As of recently, this once special purchase I had once been proud of has turned into a complete nightmare. I should have known something was up with my salesman when he said he would accept a postdated check for the down payment to Wells Fargo. He made sure to tell me to lie to them if they called and asked about the down payment. He said to tell them I had paid it and not to mention the postdated check. This should have been a red flag for me, but I really wanted a new car, I really wanted to feel important, and I really should have listened to my gut. I did feel special! I felt like a King! I had just paid $18,000 for an amazing sweet ride. Well, I financed that $18,000 with an insanely high interest rate, 14.99%. The interest rate reflects what my credit score was and that’s on me. I am not upset about it, I just can’t wait to refinance in a year. I drove that sweet ride straight to one of my best friend’s houses and showed that bad boy off! Boy was he and he still is jealous! I was like a kid in a candy store with my birthday money! You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face with a plow truck. The next morning I couldn’t wait to drive it to work and take a few of my co-workers for a test drive over lunch. Noon couldn’t come fast enough and one came to quick. My new car was all I talked about all day; I bet I was even slightly annoying. Then I get home and really take a good look at my car in the day light. I picked the car up around 7:30 pm, and in the winter as we all know the Sun is well gone and hiding by 7:30 pm. I am walking around it and start taking some pictures to show off on Facebook. As I am walking around it I notice the driver’s side door is not closed completely. I look at it closer and realize the whole door is a little askew even when its closed. So I took some pictures of the door and the whole car and said to myself “I still have to go get my plates, I will bring it up then.” A couple of weeks go by and I get the call I have been waiting for,”Mr.Huffman your plates are in” yes! I drive down and get my plates put on after work. I regrettably forget to bring up the door. Then I think to myself,” I have to go in for an oil change in a few months I will just bring it up then, I don’t want to be one of those guy”. I now had a plan and was happy with the plan so I drove home smiling ear to ear. During those few months I had noticed a few more things about my car I wanted to bring up. I knew I had a 15,000 or one year bumper to bumper warranty so I could afford to have them look at whatever I thought might needed to be looked at. Warranties rock, right? About two weeks before Father’s Day I received a $19.98 Oil change coupon in my email from Superior Ford. This was great, I needed an oil change and now I have a coupon and now I can tell them what I think needs to be looked at on my car. So I responded to the link in the email and set the appointment for 06-05-13 at 7pm. I pulled in and check in. They said have a seat it will be about twenty minutes. I thought this will be quick, I told the technician I need to schedule a time to have someone look at some issues I had when he was done with the oil change. He said ok, we went and sat down in the customer lounge and watched some direct TV. I say we because I had someone with me. Everything was going to be OK. About 10 minutes into my 20 minutes the technician came in hold a disgusting air filter, he said “do you want me to change your air filter?” I paused and asked if that was supposed to be new when I bought the car, he said yes, I then said does that look like an air filter that’s been in a car for 5,000 miles? He said no, I then said but you’re still going to make me pay for it, he said yes. I said fine, change the filter. I thought oh well, a slight over sight. I am still getting a sweet deal on the oil change. Wrong I was again. As I was going to pay the bill a lady hands me the receipt. First thing I notice is an almost $70 bill! What!? This was a $15 air filter and a $19.98 oil change. That should be less than $40 with tax. I was then informed its $19.98 plus $14 labor and I had to pay for the oil filter as well. This was unacceptable. After a small discussion with the technician he gave me the oil change for free. We agreed that nowhere on the coupon did it say plus extras, so he was very accommodating and I appreciated that. That still should have thrown up a little red flag that even a simple oil change was a slight ordeal. Now it come to my time dealing with the Service Advisor named James Walters. He was and still is a very nice guy who was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I spoke with James to set an appointment to have my issues looked at. We set the appointment for the very next day and he said Ford would be giving me a rental car, sweet! I left feeling much better than I was dealing with the bill just a few moments before. That was short lived and now my nightmare begins.
