Today, Goodell and I met with parents of NFL players and their organizations to discuss ways to drive more awareness for family resources. We hope to empower parents of players to share support resources to their families. This morning, we met with Denise Wayne, mother of Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne and president of the Professional Football Players Mothers’ Association (PFPMA). We also met with Sam McNabb, father of former QB Donovan McNabb and president of the National Football Players Father Association (NFPFA). Both Mrs. Wayne and Mr. McNabb are concerned about the public perception of the NFL family. We discussed working together to assist parents with educational materials and ways to reach out to their sons and their families during difficult times. Typically, we meet with PFPMA and NFPFA two times a year at the Draft and Rookie Symposium to educate parents on available resources. Today, these organizations discussed becoming more involved in driving the message about standards of excellence at all levels of football.
