Today I am celebrating my strength. I asked Ashleigh to recall a time when she thought I was strong, which stood out for her. She mentioned the time when I had major surgery to remove a massive tumour and on the day I came out of surgery I was taking care of my daughters welfare ensuring she was ok and cared for. Ashleigh also mentioned the strength Ive shown through the years in my dealings with her biological father. 24 years ago, single and pregnant, I walked away from a relationship, where, had I stayed, our lives could have taken a totally different path. We could have been trapped in a cycle of domestic violence, aggression, lies and deceit and no stability. From the day she was born Ive protected my daughter from being exposed to anything that could harm her physically or psychologically and continue to do so. So, today, my blessing is my strength :-)
