Today, I celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Freedom Summer by hosting a Freedom Summer Tour. Chicago has its own storied history of civil rights, with brave activists and organizers uniting to promote equality. I along community leaders and students visited Historic Pullman Foundation Visitor Center, DuSable Museum, South Shore Cultural Center, Rainbow Beach, and A. Philip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum to highlight Chicago’s desegregation and honor the African-American who fought for freedom in this district and across America. I was honored to share this experience with our future leaders connecting the past to our present and our future.
