Today I had to take care of a pretty decent oil leak on Ocho( real common problem with VWs) The dreaded oil cooler seal.. and also the dipstick tube.... If the oil cooler seal completely ruptures.... Your 5 quarts of oil will evacuate in a few seconds ... and you will blow the motor ..... I noticed a few drops where I was parking and immediately ordered one from our warehouse....today was my first day off where I could tackle it..... Yes, It was cold as heck in the garage.. BUT the way I figure it... It would be 100 times colder waiting for a wrecker if the seal went.... Proactively taking care of your own car before that happens really warms the heart :) Not the easiest job in the world ( anyone that says it is, must have a heated garage... and elbows that bend the opposite way ;) ). And also not the hardest either...instead of buying a special tool I used my Macguyver instinct .... Many of my friends own VWs.... I urge you all to change this , proactively! Its not the cars fault.... dont let em die :) went for a 130 mile test drive afterwards ( true story ! ) Oil leak - 0..... Skinny white guy- 1
