Today I received an email from a concerned RL friend who hadnt heard from me for awhile. He was worried about the cyberstalking that went on a long time ago. ................................................................................................................................... Bless your heart, you make me feel so much better. Ive just been really busy volunteering for a non-profit, PetFoodStamps.org. This cyberstalking has been over for a good while, though; once I left the online group where that person felt threatened by my mildest presence, he seems to have long lost interest. Probably after someone else by now. All the beautiful laws in the world wont do a bit of good when officials have no interest in executing them. I lay a lot of that at the door of male chauvinism and/or laziness, because you can bet if somebody threatened them, theyd hop right on it. Still, I have to admit hes not the first and might not be the last coward to threaten me to various degrees. Dealing with the local knuckledraggers has been bad enough in and of itself, but even they have backed off a bit. For instance, in 2008 when I put a huge beautiful handmade wooden Democratic sign in my front yard, a couple threatened to use it (and me) for target practice. When the Repukes took the House, a bunch of the local chickienhawk militia loaded into a pickup truck and stopped in front of my house, honking the horn, hollering and hooting like the drunks they are, and worse of all, waving rifles in the air. I went outside with a (non-working) camera, waved a cheery hello, and hollered back Smile for the birdie, boys! Pretended to take a few photos, thanked some of the guys by name, then turned around and went back in the house. That was the last time they ever did that, although at least half a dozen threats have been muttered in my hearing. On the regional OATS minibus I used to ride for weekly shopping, there was one certified paranoid schizophrenic the driver at that time and some of the passengers egged on to scream in my face nonstop for 5 minutes. Im definitely on their hit wish list as a race traitor among other sins, but they know I can and will take a few of them out if they try. So I remain above ground even today. Im not trying to minimize the evil and danger of these people, or to try to sound overly bold. But even in sports theyll say the best defense is a good offense, so I dont let them get what they want. Thats just the way it is in RedNeckLand for an older, lone liberal outspoken female. When one of them gets in my face, they get my version of it back, even if its just to start laughing. Anyway, Im too busy praying for President Obamas safety to worry about my own. Id take a bullet for that man.
