Today I remember my first cousins husband, Commander James Lloyd Griffin. He was from Gates (Forked Deer) Tennessee. Jim attended the University of Tennessee Martin before going to the US Naval Academy. He went on to flight school at Pensacola, Florida After 100 combat missions he was shot down over Hanoi. There was a radio broadcast that announced that he and his navigator had been captured. This was May 1967. He was listed MIA until the Secretary of the Navy verified his death in January 1974. Jim had two children, a son and daughter. He is one of our familys heros.
