Today I sat to reflect on what my father told me few years back - TopicsExpress

Today I sat to reflect on what my father told me few years back when I fought a classmate in secondary school (high school for those wey dey form americana) I had a short temper and was known for getting into trouble for it. Funny enough I never got suspended, I sure got caned and when school became tired they resulted to grass cutting. After the incident, I was surprised how my father took it. He just made me sit in his room and tied my eyes. He asked if I was seeing anything. I said no. It was funny. He asked if I knew what he held, no was still my answer. He asked if I knew what anger was. I gave him the normal answer getting mad at something or somebody. He removed the clothing from my eyes and stared into my eyes. That look tore me. He said anger is blindness. what happens when a blind man tries to walk without help. He hurts himself and people around him. When you allow anger to take control, your foresight is closed, your reasoning is impaled. You just want to hurt the cause unaware of the consequences that may result from your actions. That someone called you a fool, idiot et.c. Only means they.probably act like one. It wouldnt matter in a year or two. You probably would see him after school life and laugh over it. Nothing people ever say really would matter in time except you want it to. I believe him. When people call you names or even disappoint you, it wouldnt matter, your attitude to it is what is.
