Today I say goodbye to one of my good friend. I wanted to share with everyone how I met Gray. I was new to cycling 6 years ago. The GTG, was not even around at the time. I go to google local rides and I find a Sunday ride close to my house. Its ran by Mark Thomas whos is the leader of the local cycling club and Teresa. Picture this if you can, heres and asian guy all by himself new to cycling dont know anyone and show up to this ride. Mark and Teresa were so nice to make me feel welcome to the group. I was like a sponge absorbing all the knowledge and advice they were giving me. Thank you Mark and Teresa for being so nice to me and the rest of the local cycling club members who used to show up to that ride on Sundays. Ok back to Gray, I show up one day to this ride and I meet Gray the first thing I noticed was the mohawk hairstyle and not that I look at guys calves, he had some massive calves and you could not help but notice them because he had a tattoo. lol He became one of my close friends because he had the BEST personality you can ever ask from anyone, He reminded me of the typical surfer in venice beach, a free spirited guy who by the way used to be an avid skateboarder he shared some crazy experience with me before putting that up and got into cycling.lol We both relayed well when it comes to food because he happens to love filipino food we would always talk about food on the rides if we were not talking about cycling because he used to be married to a filipina. In fact I also met his older son Graeme who happen to know my son Bryan because they went to the same junior high school and they also hung out from time to time. Anyways when we formed the GTG later on I still see Gray and I know he was loyal to the Local cycling club but would show up to the GTG functions whenever I invited him and I remember the last conversation we had when I saw him at the Tour of KC. He paused and looked at me and out of nowhere said Thank you Capi for being a good friend. I was a bit taken by surprize with that statement and I said likewise, now thinking about it I did not realize this was the last time I will see my good friend. LIFE is too SHORT do not hold grudges, do not hate, live life to the fullest and tell your love ones and your friends how much you care and love them. Thanks for putting up with me this morning. RIP Smasher
