Today I took part in a Senate Commerce Committee summit on distracted driving -- and technological advances that can help keep drivers and pedestrians safe. Distracted driving has been a top priority of mine since I came to the Senate. I pushed to include several provisions to curb distracted driving in the most recent transportation bill, including giving states incentives to ban texting while driving and support to help target dangerous teen driving behaviors. No single law is going to be the silver bullet that ends distracted driving, but proactive policies and new technologies hold real promise to save lives.
