Today I will be focusing on how God prefers the church to be run. In present times we see that churches around the world are becoming more commonly known for extatic behaviour and extra-ordinary experiences. This is the result of the so-called charismatic or pentacostal movement. This movement is infiltrating our very fundamental churches. It has already moved its way into the Roman Catholic church and now it has moved its way into fundamental churches and reformed churches. The charismatic movement is widely known for its extatic behaviour and experiences. With these behaviours and experiences; comes a clearly seen dose of DISORDER. People standing up in the middle of a service and starting to have these experiences which they claim to he from God. People starting to speak in so-called tongues; nothing more than some utterence of words; and also starting to shake without control. There is only disorder in this movement and its invading the order of fundamental churches. What do learn from history and from science and specifically from the Bible? Looking at the history of things; we learn that everything has always happened in a specific order. God created everything in a specific order. Scientifically speaking we can see how order has great value. We know that the earth spins at a certian speed. We know that the sun will rise at a specific time and again set at a specific time. We know that in nature a seed grows to become a plant. Thats the natural order of things. Creation is based on order! What does the Bible teach us? 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion; but of peace; as in all churches of the saints. So if God is not the author of confusion; what is He the author of? Peace. What is peace? Peace is the freedom from disturbance. Here are also a few synonyms for peace: calm; quiet; silence; still; noiselessness etc. So if God is the author of peace; then disorder is obviously the opposite of God. 1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order. Let what things be done in order? Let ALL things be done in order. So what does it mean to do all things decently? Here is the definition of decent: conforming with generally accepted standards of respectable or moral behaviour. So to be decent means to conform to certian respectable and moral behaviours! Here are synonyms for decent: fair; acceptable; adequate etc. Decent means to be up to standard. It means to be suitable. So let all thins be done decently and in order. This verse specifies how we should run a church. So how do you do something decently? You do it in ORDER. What does it mean to do something in order? It means to do something in a specific way. Order means: the arrangement or disposition of people or things in relation to each other according to a particulor sequence; pattern; or method. So to have order; is to have a specific sequence or pattern or structure. You see? God loves order. He loves structure. He loves patterns. He loves arrangement. Titus 1:5 ...that thou shalt set in order the things that are wanting.... That thou shalt do WHAT??? Set IN ORDER the things that are wanting. So set in order the things that are wanting...what is wanting? Wanting means: lacking in a required or necessary quality. It means disappointing; faulty; not up to STANDARD. So set in ORDER the things that are not up to STANDARD. You see? God has certian standards and order en patterns in which a church should operate. So if God is then the author of order and not of disorder; then obviously we need to rebuke and do away with the things that are not in order. Simply put. If you are a child of God; who loves order; then you need to disagree with this charismatic/pentacostal movement of disorder. You CAN NOT have order and disorder in the same place at the same time. Remeber that God loves order. Its up to us to keep order and run our churches according to Gods standards. Amen. With love. Alwyn Burger
