Today, I will be on Frank Beckmanns program on WJR 760 AM (9am-Noon) talking about road funding. The focus will be on the topics that I raised in an editorial which I released to the media on Tuesday of last week. These topics are: 1) the false narrative that we need to increase taxes in order to fix our roads (Reference Speaker Bolgers plan or the plan that I released 2 years ago) 2) we already spend 31% more per mile than the national average (7% more per lane-mile) yet our road quality is no better than 40th (MN spends 18% less than the national average and has better quality roads), 3) why focus tax increase discussion on roads? would we raise taxes to pay for film credits? The money for film credits and other lower priority budget items could be applied to fix our roads, and 4) did you know that 10% of the tax increase proposed by the Senate would go towards mass transit not fixing potholes?
