Today is Ramona’s birthday. I met Ramona in the fall of 1970 at Berry College. We married between our Junior/Senior year in college and sometime later I rescued her from Buckhead, Atlanta and brought her safely out to Lee Rd in Lithia Springs:) This summer we celebrated our 40 wedding anniversary. I just thought I loved Ramona when we married that hot August afternoon in 1973 but I was 20 years old and knew little about love and absolutely nothing about the real world and life. I still am thankful that I have been sheltered a good bit from the real world but at 60, I do know a good bit more about love. True love is unconditional and Ramona has loved me in this fashion from the beginning. When I was playing basketball she loved me and encouraged me. Now that my knees ache at night and I can sometimes cry with the pain she loves me even more. She has been proud of me when I’ve succeeded and she has counseled me when I did stupid stuff. Her faith in our Lord has been a constant in our relationship and her ministry and love for others is second to none. She is a wonderful wife and a near perfect “Nana” to four beautiful Grands. I cannot imagine my life without her because she is by far the best catch of this Ol Captain’s life.
