Today is World AIDS Day,,,As we take a moment to reflect, there is literally NO ONE who doesnt know someone who is HIV Pos, Living with AIDS or transitioned from AIDS. This disease has become pandemic and although there is still not yet a cure, there is disease management with the hope of a cure. Medical technology and activisim has allowed inviduals to treat the disease with relatively ONE pill per day as opposed to 30 pills a day when myself and a core group of fearless ones such as Valerie Papaya MannAllen Aj NapolisDonna WilliamsAlvin PickettayAndrew FeraiosYvette Flunder, Dr. Robert Scott, Earnest Hite, Marvin Carter and so many others took on the challenge of educating the African American community that was being decimated by this disease. ...There is still a great deal more work to do in our communities of color to educate people to step out of the darkness of ignorance and fear and step into the light of education and compassion. If you know someone whom is at risk, be fearless and have a discussion with them about getting tested and letting them know that treatment is available and hope is always on the horizon that can NEVER be forsaken. Protect yourself, your partners and educate your community so that history does not repeat itself and the work that so many have accomplished is in vain......
