Today is a very sad day for the Shediack and Greene families as well as our nation. As many of you have heard my cousin Brig. General Harry Greene was killed in Afganistan today. Harrys mother and my father were siblings and we spent many a special event and summer vacations with our Shediack grandparents in Fall River, MA. Harry was a well-educated guy who worked hard to attain a wonderful career in the US Army but he never let you feel he was better than you. He was a great cousin who stayed in touch with all of his cousins as well as his aunts and uncles. He was especially close to my son and honored us by swearing in Joey for his USAF reenlistment at the Pentagon on 2012. For the special interest he gave Joey I will be eternally grateful. As both his mother and my father fought their illnesses he and I had several mutual boosting phone calls which I think helped us both. When my father died he stopped his busy work and with his father and brothers was there when we laid him to rest. He was always there for his family no matter what. For his professional life there will be plenty of things to read about him over the next few days that can be told better than I can. He was a hero to me and our whole family and we will continue to love him until the day when we are reunited with our love ones who have gone before us. Thank you Harry for everything you did and were to all of us Harry you will always be out hero. As the saying goes We are all better people for knowing you. God bless you, your family and our country.
