Today is my last day as a federal employed...RETIRING...where has the time gone? I went to work as a federal employee at the age of 20 still in college. I took almost a 2 year break 9 years later and was fortunate to return to the feds. I feel I have touched a few lives, including folks in the various programs such as Student Hires, Pathways, Presidential Mgmt Program, Veterans Programs, etc., to volunteers, advising employees and/or friends on career options and helping with resumes. I feel given the opportunity to work outside my box gave me the most challenge though. For instance I was able to help about 100 employees and their families move when we first opened, I went to job fairs talking to a lot of students about Fish & Wildlife Service, going to Native American Colleges/Universities, working with the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and their students, the Student Climate and Conservation Congress (SC3), Directorate Fellows Program Program, to working the Open House at NCTC and the list continues. I will miss the folks at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) and others throughout the Service and of course other federal agencies and especially the students. But it is time to start a new chapter in my life and although I will be volunteering when needed, I will miss all of you...and you know who you are as I cant begin to list everyone. Now it is also time to have that quality time back with my family! Thanks again for your friendship and keep in touch! Linda Lieu
