Today is the birdiversary! It was one year ago today that Catherine and I were sitting on the couch in a hung over state and we heard something that sounded like a child screaming outside. Our kitty Rose was coming in and yowling at us so Cat got up to see what was going on. She then yells from the back room come look there is a bird on the roof and I said why do you want me to get up to look at a bird? so she replied something like no...its a bird bird. I stumbled into the other room and looked out to see a raggedy looking cockatiel on the neighbors roof so we grabbed a cat carrier and climbed out there. The bird didnt fly away, I tried to shoo him into the carrier because I was kinda afraid to pick it up so Lovey swooped in and just scooped him up and put him in there. The next day she called animal control and when they arrived they told Lovey the bird would probably be put to sleep so she said well then you are not taking it. So long story slightly shorter...we kept the bird and named him Picasso. Its been a year of learning, spending lots of money on bird equipment, food, vet bills and the like but he is a part of our family now. I say its kind of like having a small dog but with wings or a toddler with wings. You clean up poop, you tell them to be quiet, you talk to them and try to get them to speak and learn and you tuck them in at night.
