Today was amazing and helpless....Kiara is able to give high fives- this is amazing. She may have to take a couple shots to get it but it is a high five. Today at lunch when she gave me a high five I had to hold back breaking down....she is fighting so so so hard...sometimes we cut visit time short (which is so hard for me) so she can rest because she is working really hard in therapy. The fight that is inside of her overwhelms me, it makes me feel so helpless as a Dad....like I should be doing more, should be taking some of the burden on myself. I know this thinking isnt reasonable- its just honest. I want to make it better, be her protector, it is helpless. This process continues to humble me....today we had to be trained and tested on installing her carseat to ensure we could take her for a day outside of the hospital. I was so annoyed initially...we have been traveling in Memphis, I installed the carseat before.......wouldnt you know I ended up learning something, finding and easier, safer way to do things...I repented for my harsh attitude and limited patience and expressed gratitude to the staff who did in fact educate me....Sidenote- read your carseat manuals or have the state patrol check them- there are a handful of kids at Kennedy Krieger that were not properly secured in their carseats... I took Jameson and Kylie to Dave and Busters tonight to have some fun and run around- A nice older couple gave the kids 2,000 tickets they had won. It was such a nice gesture...Kylie was able to redeem it for the unicorn pillow pet from despicable me (Its so fluffy I could die) Jameson let her have the bulk of the tickets so she could get that. Tonight I go to bed inspired, humbled, encouraged, and honestly overwhelmed at the fight that God put in my little girl. That, and the self-sacrifice of my wife....Keren is amazing. Love you guys!
