Today we finished our first season at 14u. To say this season has been challenging would be a understatement. First, I am not a world renowned fastpitch softball player or coach. At 14u the speed of the game begins to show, having a very young team, with some of the girls being days from the cut off and having only 1 high school athlete we knew we would have a up hill battle. I can say, without exception, these girls fought harder than anyone, every game, despite the score. This last weekend we lost all five of our games. The first three were lost by one run. We faced starting pitchers on high school teams, including varsity teams, and they were not only competitive, but we scared the crap out of them. We were the underdogs in every game we played, but as far as my girls were concerned, we were the favorites. Every game we improved, when we got knocked down we got up, when some girls couldnt go on, mentally or physically, their teammates carried them, literally. Everyone of you was placed in a position you were not asking to be in, several of you began to pitch, because you knew we needed the help. Your level of dedication to your teammates is inspiring, and will serve you well as you continue on in life, on or off the field. I couldnt possibly be more proud of my team. All of you should hold your heads very high. Thank you for a great season My coaches, lets just say my primary role is to bring the gear. Steven Kadlec Stacey A Kadlec Tim hein, you have not only taken these girls to a level I could not, you have improved me as a coach as well. We may not always agree on the same things, we may have different coaching styles and theorys, but this team would not have been the success that it is without you. Thank you for all your work. The behind the scenes. All of you parents, team mom, spouses, and additional coaches. Sally Peach Gary Blawat Taylor King Kendra Carlson Kozelek Heidi Schneider Jim Cross your phone calls emails and countless hours working for free to make everything run smoothly. Thank you for all your help And lastly. Chris Kendziora Kim Kendziora Amanda Kendziora Even though this is my last season with the Hurricanes, it never would have happened without you. I am proud to say I am the first head coach for the 12u and 14u teams for the hurricanes. While our viewpoint as to how to take the organization forward may now be different, at one point they were the same. The opportunity for the tremendous young athletes to develop a love for the game, and pass it on to future generations. Never forget the reason you started. I want to thank you for the opportunity to coach all these amazing girls, that I consider my daughters, for your organization. Without you, my life would not be as full as it is. I have no desire to carry on any baggage. Life is too short to not enjoy every moment. I wish you and your teams the best of luck, and will be doing my best to run rule you by the third inning, and hoping you dont do the same to me. Either way, I will shake your hand after the game. Thank you again for all your guidance, encouragement and the opportunity.
