Today we remember and honor Rockingham County Corrections Officer Robert C. Prescott. Officer Prescott was killed in the line of duty 43 years ago. Officer Prescott was stabbed to death by an inmate at the “old” jail with a metal shank. Officer Prescott was 27 years old at the time of his death and had been on the job less than a month. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force and a former Police Officer with the #UNH Police Department. He is the only Corrections Officer from the state of New Hampshire recognized by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the State Memorial in Concord as having been killed in the line of duty. He left behind his wife Clara.
