Todays adventure in Technical Theatre: Lighting Designer for Roadshow not traveling with the Tour, and the Tour has no Board Op. Said designer sends you his design, which is based on the old Tour, not the current one which has less dancers in it. Plot has errors in it. Hang and focus and make it close. Designer then tells you via email, This show can run with work lights and your audience will love it. Make it look nice. So you spend most of this morning focusing, and programming looks based on his cue list and suggestions. Tour arrives, decides that the set needs to move 6 downstage (not on the rider or plot). All of the focus and programming work goes down the tube because show is no longer lit. Emergency refocus at Dinner Break. Oh, the set list from the Tour doesnt match the set list from the designer, so its an evening of totally winging it on a show youve never seen. Fun.
