Todays topic covers new laws and regulations. Laws such as TEAPA (The exotic animal protection act), and the new proposed ban on hand rearing big cats, bears and primates, no more camel or elephant rides at your local fair and of course the recent LA guide ban. ARs have many resources and pay millions to lobbyist, they spend their entire days hounding congress, government agencies and local council members and fair board members to change the laws. As we know their goal is to remove all contact between humans and animals whether they be domestic or exotic. The problem is we are always on the defensive. these laws are in place to protect our rights, we are not looking every day for them to be changed. Sometimes we catch proposed legislation before its too late, but sometimes these things pass quietly. The proposed LA guide ban was only discovered two days before the vote. Nobody was asked to contribute or speak on the behalf of elephant people. But the ARs had been meeting with the council members members for over year to pitch their side. How is that fair? Well its not! So our job is to keep our eyes open and watch for these changes. I am asking all my friends on Facebook and their friends (please share) if you see some type of new legislation popping up in your area that concerns animals, domestic or exotic, please speak up! We cant watch every fair, every town or even every state or country. Lets all work together to protect our rights to keep animals in our lives
