Tomorrow fire crews from Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue and Cowlitz County Fire Dist #6 will be participating in a training event at 3920 Pacific Hwy. The home has been graciously donated for fire training by its owners. They plan to rebuild on the same site once the house is demolished following the training. Fire departments are often looking for acquired structures that meet certain safety criteria to provide realistic training for their members. In the group of firefighters attending training tomorrow, many have never had the opportunity to actually enter a burning structure. This will be a rare opportunity to achieve that goal and satisfy state mandated training while providing the highest level of safety for the department’s firefighters. During the morning hours after approximately 9am you may see smoke in the area. After approximately 1230pm may see more smoke as the structure is demolished in a controlled manner.
