Tomorrow will be my youngest sons 16th birthday. Derek has changed so much physically over the past few years, he is almost unrecognizable. He is a strong, kind-hearted, respectful, Godly young man who has been a source of pride for his mother and I since the day we brought him home. He has a certain unique charm that draws people to him. Hes a natural born leader who makes his own path. He is blessed with incredible strength. He has been able to smile through whatever pain he has endured. He will undoubtedly continue to blaze his own path through life and already has a good understanding of what it takes to succeed in this world. He is a worker; both in the classroom and on the field. He makes friends with people of all walks of life and he does not judge others. He has a great sense of humor. All of these things make him who he is, and Im so blessed to be his father. I love you, Derek. Happy Birthday, son!
