Tonight Ill be stepping out and playing under the moniker of Jukebox for the last time, after doing so every friday for ten solid years. It feels pretty weird, but very right, especially with so many new projects in the pipeline. Im really looking forward to this evening, mainly to catch up with a shit load of old friends, watch a couple of great new bands and do what I still genuinely love more than anything else and thats playing wonderful life affirming music with my close friends and laughing while doing it, tonight especially great to be playing back to back with Neil Partington again, it feels like its been a lifetime since we did it, this is going to be fun, also fab to have Andrew Hutchinson and Tommy Byron playing together under one roof and the maddest of all - today I had to frantically call up Tom Cardy-Dodds and beg for him to save the day with his excellent engineer skills, exactly like I did ten years ago on the very first night of the very first Jukebox back in a ramshakle dive (Casino Club /Red Rooms) above one of the roughest pubs in town (the Blacket Arms). He save the day and launched the club them and hes done it again ten years later, this wasnt planned and Ive not even seen him for ages and as disorganised as that is on my part, theres just something really right about that. The main thing of course is the people who have populated the club across ten solid years - different groups and different faces have come and gone and its been amazing to have been a part of so many peoples lives, I know its only music and its only clubbing, but sometimes music, dancing, singing and friends are our lifeline and still the greatest form of cathartic escapism Ive ever come across. So - genuine love to everyone that ever came through our door and danced on our floor. We salute you. Theres thousands of people Ive not mentioned here but Ill probably mention them all tomorrow when I wake up after tonights carnage.
