Tonight we went to the Las Vegas Laugh Factory in the Tropicana - TopicsExpress

Tonight we went to the Las Vegas Laugh Factory in the Tropicana Hotel/Casino. Had a pretty good time with not-too-raunchy language and comedy from four comedians. Afterwards we dropped in to the Lounge where a local band was playing. I could use the term “local” for Hawaii also since that’s where most of them came from. When we first arrived in Hawaii in 1989 a new band, calling themselves “Honolulu”, was just breaking into the local scene and were playing where we were staying at the Hilton on Sunday afternoons. They got better gigs and bounced around for a few years playing at the Hickam O’Club, Trappers Lounge in the Hyatt Hotel in Waikiki and finally became a permanent fixture at the Espirit Club in the Sheraton Hotel. They were one of the very best dance bands we’ve ever enjoyed and we were devastated when they broke up in the late 90s. Three of the members stayed in Hawaii with two playing with SOS until their recent breakup and one floating to different bands and is still playing today. The rest pretty much migrated to Las Vegas. We were very happy to see Brad, Manny and Ronnie last night after a six year break, but missed seeing Brian (Brads brother) who is with a different band. I was really surprised to hear that Brian and Penny, sweethearts when we first met them in 1989, have been married almost 20 years (I think) and have EIGHT kids!! It’s really hard keeping up with these guys as they have regular full time jobs and bounce around from band to band. As usual, it was great seeing them all again and enjoying their music. Heres a sample ;-)
