Top 7 Inspirational Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan The concept of Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan is yet a new one but this has been a ladder for growth of the economy of our country from over the last few years. The presence of these enthusiastic Women Entrepreneurs have brought prosperity and welfare for the country. In wake of the massive opposition faced by a variety of stakeholders, pointing at them as an important “untapped source” for economic growth and development didn’t stopped them from working. At the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in 2012, women entrepreneurs were called “the way forward”. The rapid growth of the women entrepreneurs in Pakistan has drawn the attention of both the academic and the developing sectors and has helped Pakistan to build a soft image in the international world. Different bodies like Donors, International Public Institutions, National and Local Governments, NGOs, Private Companies, Knowledge Institutes, and Business Associations have initiated programs and policies to promote and develop women’s entrepreneurship in Pakistan. These amazing women have been serving their country very well so they deserve the best protocol from us. We should salute to the Women Power in Pakistan. No. 7: Kalsoom Lakhani The first name that comes to my mind is Kalsoom Lakhani, the founder and CEO of Invest2Innovate. It is a venture that provides support to seed stage social enterprise and help them to get access to capital in new markets. If we talk about her qualifications, so she is a well educated lady as she has received her bachelor’s from University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree from George Washington University. No. 6: Sheba Najmi Next in the list is another elegant lady, Sheba Najmi. She started off her career as a Pakistani Television News Anchor, but today she is a versatile & well experienced User Experience Designer and Product Strategist. She was a code for America Fellow in the year 2012 and has previously worked at Yahoo, as a Lead Designer for Yahoo Mail. We all know the worth of this post. Pretty Amazing! No. 5: Maria Umar Maria Umar, another young and enthusiastic name in this list. She is the founder of Women’s Digital League. She is one of those people who comes from the most targeted & affected province of Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhua. We really appreciate her bold step because coming out of such an environment as a start is itself a big achievement. She runs a venture that empowers women from all over the country to work and establish themselves on strong footings. She provides them with online work such as Applications Development, Graphic Design, Content Creation, Data Entry, Social Media and Community Management, and much more on similar lines. This way women can earn in their homes very easily. No. 4: Sidra Qasim Sidra Qasim, another innovative lady, the co-founder of Home Town Shoes. This is an extraordinarily unique Commerce Portal that sells beautifully handcrafted shoes made by Pakistani Craftsmen, and then sell it to the rest of the world. The major buyers of these shoes belong to the European countries. She is helping to build a great image of our country abroad. No.3: Salma Jafr On our number 3 position is Salma Jafri, who founded her own Content Marking Firm named as WordPL.net in 2008 and now she is working currently with Fortune 100 Companies as a Services Provider. Some of her upcoming ventures are a new teaching product, a content re-purposing tool for marketers, a partnership led by the US Department of State and CRDF Global and a lot more. She’s also the go-to person for Elance training in Pakistan, apart from being a columnist for leading industry publications such as Search Engine Watch.
