Torah Reading for the week:- Genesis 41:1 - 44:17; Numbers 7:24-35. Prophets:- Zachariah 2:1- 4:1-7. Be Strong, be Strong and be Strengthened! Quote for the Week: “And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying: It is not in me; G-d will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” Genesis 41:16. I have always loved these words of Joseph, It is not l Pharaoh, but G-d who will give Pharaoh an answer, an answer of peace.” Yes, not just an answer but an answer of PEACE. What mighty words...... From a mighty man, because it takes greatness to recognize greatness. Who even is Joseph? The eleventh son of Jacob by his beloved Rachel. A young lad whose gift of dreams earned him the derisive title of, that Dreamer from his brothers. Brothers who envied him for the special place he held in their fathers heart. A love and hate triangle that setting the stage for the one of the Torahs most recurring themes - Sibling Rivalry, (first, Isaac and Ishmael, Esau and Jacob, Joseph and his brothers). Joseph was a young lad whose clairvoyance for dreams interpretation moved him into the very courts of the most powerful man of his generation - the Pharaoh of Egypt! He was a young lad built from birth for great things, fame and power beyond the imagination of his brothers who were pushed by their hatred to commit a most heinous crime against a sibling - they conceived murder in their hearts against him and might have carried it out if not for Reubens exhortations. They settled for a lesser crime and sold him off to slavery. Joseph in whose hands the household of Potiphar prospered. Joseph who rose above his fellow slaves and became a trusted manager to Pharaohs Potiphar. “And it came to pass from the time that he appointed him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that HaShem blessed the Egyptians house for Josephs sake; and the blessing of HaShem was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field.” Genesis 39:5. Yet he stood before the Pharaoh himself and bowed in recognizance and in humility, and ascribed honour and power to Whom they were really due and belonged - HaShem Eloheinu, The Owner and Possessor of the whole universe. In whose hands lie all blessings and indeed all curses. “See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me; I kill, and I make alive; I have wounded, and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand.” Deuteronomy 32:39. It is He who gives us the ability for anything and everything we are. “But thou shalt remember HaShem thy G-d, for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18. This week, may He who is blessed beyond all blessings that are ever spoken in this world give you an answer of peace in the midst of the storms of life that beset you. May He, lift up His countenance to shine upon you to favour you, and may He grant you a portion in the world of peace to come. Selah! Kol Tov - All the best! Have a great week!
