Torontos Taste of the Danforth, the citys primarily Greek food - TopicsExpress

Torontos Taste of the Danforth, the citys primarily Greek food festival, intrigues me. Its part huge disappointment and part pleasant surprise. Most of the Greek restaurants offer the typical Greek fare:chicken and pork souvlaki sticks, gyros on pita bread, tzatziki, baklava, bla bla, tastes OK but boring and horribly expected. But peppered among the offerings are a few exceptional finds: Fresh oysters, savoury lamb pies, grilled quail, fried octopus tentacles.. Also, the neighbourhood has evolved to include a wide range of ethnicities and delicious food offerings, including Indian, Thai, Japanese... From a Greeks perspective (and this is just my personal opinion), Id like to see the Greek restaurants step up, be more adventurous, show the community the breadth of our cuisine and our palette - enough with the souvlaki already! And, even though its the Danforth, make sure to take in some of the other great ethic cuisine, its an adventure for your taste buds!
