Toyota i-Road all electric car turns driving into skiing The one seat version is currently on trial in Tokyo but a two seat version is set to hit the European markets. The way it leans into the bend looks like it would add a great degree of dynamic fun into an urban commute. Being all electric its carbon footprint is zero and its footprint on the road is pretty minimal too – imagine how many of these you can fit into a city center car-park. It’s powered by two 2 kW electric motors and lithium-ion battery that offers a range of about 30 miles on one charge (which isn’t bad considering that’s based on a constant cruising speed of 19 mph). It’s certainly a car designed for dense city life and with more electric vehicle charging stations popping up over the world, it could provide an ergonomic and green solution to urban travel. Its top speed is around 30 mph so don’t expect to be getting on any motorways with this little carver. Asides from that one of the only complaints about the design seem to be the lack of visible cargo space, however, this may be addressed in the two seat European version. But if the main use is going to be the work commute, we can’t imagine having a briefcase with you is going to be a big problem; you’re hardly going to be picking up flat packed furniture from Ikea in this thing.
