Tragic: A dear friend of mine who passed away a few years ago...she was a fine and gracious Christian lady...and told me that her childhood was total misery and she was afraid all of the time...because...her mother was continually telling her that she was going to hell if she chewed gum...or went to a movie...or listened to music on the radio and much more. How terrible to put into the heart of a child or a young person the terrible lie that God is an ogre...just waiting in the shadows to punish them. Folks that foster such actions are self righteous Pharisees and totally ignorant of who God really is. I know that many think and teach that folks of their religious persuasion do not sin and are sinless perfect. However, that is not what the Bible SAYS!! 1 John 1: 8 - 10...if we say that we have no sin or have not sinned...we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us...and we make him a liar and his word is not in us. It is not the big black bible that one carries in their hand and uses the dead letter to kill...it is what is in the heart that matters!!!!
