Trent Reznor is my favorite artist of all-time, and his work as Nine Inch Nails has been a major source of influence for me over the years. The bands sound has evolved dramatically since their debut, Pretty Hate Machine, back in 1989. In the 90s NIN epitomized industrial sounds with landmark works like The Downward Spiral - my uncontested favorite album - but you wont hear anything quite that abrasive coming from the band these days unless you go to a show (which is completely worth doing). An album that I recommend to nearly everyone is Ghosts I-IV (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosts_I%E2%80%93IV). Its a totally unique listening experience; one that Id rather discuss than explain. Some may recognize that a bit of the content here was featured on the Academy Award winning soundtrack for The Social Network, which was also the work of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
