Tribal varsity students plan to intensify stir MU NEWS/IMPHAL, July 9 : Students of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University today announced that they will continue their agitation till the demands are made. In a press conference held at the Manipur Press club, President of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students Union Manglien Gangte said the students went through a democratic form of protest against the university since last June 3. He said the Union has received a letter from the VC Prof T.V. Kattimani on July 3. The student body rejected the letter saying some the contain were base on untrue reports. VC is using the word self styled leaders where the body are elected for a one year term through an inclusive and consultative democratic process, it claimed. He also said students body also had a meeting at the chief ministers chamber with the government. Along with Chief Minister, Education Minister, Chief secretary, Commissioner of Higher Education, Officer on Special Duty of Higher education, Director in charge of IGNTU-RCM, former Director, Asst. Registrar of the IGNTU-RCM were also present. We will waiting for the state government response in the ongoing crisis. The passed out students in this University are yet to get their certificate, Departmental Fellowship not receiving in time, No transparency on NEC projects, lack of Students Amenities and non completion of original site at Makhan are some of the demands of the students. He further said that they will go for agitation till their demands fulfill and will seek help from other apex students organisation for further agitation. In the meantime Tribal Youth Council Manipur said they are closely monitoing and observing the situation of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University. President Tonkham Maring demanded to remove Vice Chancellor Prof T.V. Kattimani from the post and asked to appoint a fresh one from our soil. He is not fit to be the VC of the University.
