Tropical Depression Four has been upgraded to a Tropical Storm Overview: The National Hurricane Center reports that Tropical Depression Four has been upgraded to Tropical Storm (TS) Dorian and has formed in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean. The report has been initiated because of the 5-day forecast area of possible impacts includes U.S. Territories and interests. TS Dorian is located 410 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands and moving west-northwest at 21 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph with higher gusts. Tropical Storm Force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center. The barometric pressure is 1002 millibars or 29.59 inches. The general movement of this storm is expected to continue west-northwest during the next couple of days. Some slight strengthening is possible today followed by gradual weakening on Thursday as Dorian moves over cooler water. The five-day forecast cone is expected to encompass the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect. On current course, TS Dorian could potentially impact Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
