Truce In Gaza, Food Aid Allowed in Devastation For the first - TopicsExpress

Truce In Gaza, Food Aid Allowed in Devastation For the first time in seven years, Israel has allowed a UN food convoy to enter Gaza. For the past seven years, Gaza has been subjected to a brutal economic blockade carried out by Israel and Egypt, with U.S. backing. Ending this blockade was the precondition for Hamas to agree to a ceasefire. Most of the economic blockade, however, remains in place. According to the UN, the UN food convoy contains enough food to feed 150,000 people for five days. This is a drop in the bucket in comparison to what Gaza now needs after seven years of economic blockade and three major Israeli wars against the people of Gaza in the past seven years In 50 days of war, Israel has murdered 2,137 people in Gaza, including 570 children, injuring 11,000 people and killed 32 people in the West Bank. In comparison, 69 Israelis were killed, almost all of them were soldiers carrying out the genocidal attacks. In the latest attacks, the survivors, after burying the dead, must deal with the lack of basic necessities, including clean water, sanitation, and housing. In Israels attacks, 17,000 homes were destroyed leaving 100,000 people homeless. Israel also blew up hospitals, factories, schools, and Gazas one power plant. It will take an estimated 20 years for Gaza to rebuild after the latest devastation. This is only the latest truce in Israels ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people that started in 1948. In addition, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is threatening fresh ground assaults unless Hamas disarms. Yet, it is precisely because of Israels genocidal wars that it would be irresponsible for the Palestinian people to disarm.
