Truly a magnificent weekend well, Friday evening Saturday and Sunday morning.Upavon was just superb. Arrive Friday in this quaint little backwater ,sort out dogs and stuff and invited for dinner with 4 complete nutters Peter and Maureen, John and Carol none of whom should be allowed alone or given knives and forks to play with. I have never known ordering a meal to be so long and a complete saga. What is more daunting is that they took Ena and Robin for lunch the next day. I also had breakfast on Sunday morning with these 6 refugees, the waitresses off all 3 meals are now in a home being cared for and being given counselling. Anyway the real reason for Upavon was the scurries and I take my hat off to Richard Fosbury and his crew what a tremendous job they did excellent scurries great hospitality a beer tent ,smoothies,food,snail racing and the feel of a small village fete with kids and families sat around just enjoying everyones company. I was not working so I got to drink beer talk to friends play with kids chat to the Pilgrim Bandits have chat to the vicar ,catch up with Kerry and have a damned good chuckle. I got to cuddle Richards wife and her sister and hope that they can see a bright and long future chatting and catching up. Pam in The Ship makes the most amazing coffee, I could move to Upavon just to have that coffee every morning. I dont think the local dog people could believe how competitive gun dog scurries can be,well they know now certain people do not know when to quit and The Bandits fought all day long for the honours.I am sure Richard will post the results when he recovers. To everyone involved in this weekend, be that the crew, the hotels, pubs, family, the vicar, stall holders, raffle ticket people, everyone from the village. I for one say thank you , and role on July 11th 2015 Saturday Upavon Wiltshire. Maybe by then the staff from The Antelope will be well enough to deal with uncared for and out alone Refugees that can not can not make a decision about which egg to have, platter to order or which cereals to choose.
