Tsunami - 10 Years on: Visiting Sarvodaya - Kureir Aid supported Housing Scheme in Vaddavan, Batticoloa. This was the largest housing scheme implemented by Sarvodaya - 199 Houses. Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne and the visiting Austrian guests were impressed how well the community maintains their houses and the environment. It was really heartening to see a happy and a vibrant community. The first student to pass the Grade 5 scholarship examination and the first student to have got University admission from the village were recognized at the community gathering. The lady Divisional Secretary played an important role in making the entire project a success and she was also felicitated at the gathering.
