Tuesday 13th August – Arsenal daily transfer rumours and news round up Arsenal are on the verge of acquiring the services of Bayern Munich star Luiz Gustavo with Goal revealing that the Bavarians have accepted a £17.2m bid by the Gunners. It is being reported that the North Londoners would soon meet Gustavo’s representatives, to negotiate over personal terms for him, after he returns from international duty. The player himself has welcomed a move to Arsenal saying, “The Premier League is a great competition. Arsenal have a lot of tradition. I need a team that has space to play. It’s a delicate situation. I’m looking for the best option, the best decision. I am going to have to play, to stay in shape and carry on being called up [for Brazil].” Fiorentina have reportedly given up on the prospects of acquiring the signature of QPR shotstopper Julio Cesar. Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade was quoted telling the club’s Viola Channel: “We can exclude the option of Julio Cesar for he cannot be signed. We are pleased with the two goalkeepers that we have now, but we are assessing the squad on a daily basis.” The Brazilian is also believed to be a key target of North Londoners Arsenal, this summer. Arsenal and Manchester United have been reported following Dutch side Willem II’s forward Jeroen Lumu, according to The Daily Mirror. Club managing director Mark Faber was quoted telling the club’s official website: “There is interest from several sides Lumu, and that is understandable for a young talented player. Willem II is willing to discuss a possible transfer, in case of serious interest from clubs.” The 18 year old was also reported having elicited the interests of Aston Villa and Fulham, in the recent past. And in another Marca scoop, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has declared that French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is not for sale. The president though may be powerless to stop the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid from swooping for the 20 year old because of the presence of an €20m release clause in his contract. Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh has completed his long anticipated move from Arsenal to Crystal Palace. Interestingly though the Arsenal reject has inked just a 1 year deal according to Palace’s official website as he looks to resurrect his career.
