Twenty-five years ago, today, we lost a true hero. My hero. My Dad. He had lived through WWII in the Navy, was a well-respected member of our local police force, survived being shot twice, and was one of the first people in the world to undergo (then experimental) triple-bypass heart surgery (and he survived for 18 more years!). He enjoyed hunting, making cribbage boards and calling square dancing on the side. His main focus was always family, and was an amazing provider, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, neighbor and friend to all he met. He was fair, honest, tough and funny.I miss him every day, and can not believe that 25 years have passed. He was a hero. He was a role model. He was the strongest man I have ever known. He was my Dad. Love you and miss you, Dad.
