Twenty month old James Read, in desperate need of transplant, has inspired many to become bone marrow stem cell donors, in the hope that one will be his matching donor. The Sunflower Fund is overwhelmed with the numerous telephone calls from concerned people, and donor drives will be happening this Saturday (7th June), in Johannesburg and Cape Town. For those people who are still willing to join the registry and become donors, but are unable to attend these planned donor drives, please ensure that you read and understand the donor information(sunflowerfund.org.za) first and ascertain that you do meet the criteria of becoming a donor, and then phone the toll free number – 0800 12 10 82 (from a landline) – to register, and be advised where and when to go to have your blood sample taken.
