Two charged with stealing $1,800 in coins from laundromat MONTICELLO – Two Sullivan County men are under arrest and charged with breaking into a laundromat, stealing some $1,800 in coins and causing thousands of dollars in damage to washing and change machines. The incident occurred on September 26 at the Jeffersonville Laundromat on Route 52 in Jeffersonville. Sullivan County deputies, who found a crow bar and bolt cutters at the scene, followed up leads began tracking people who were cashing in large amounts of loose change in the Town of Callicoon area. The trail led to Thomas “Nick” Nichols, 32, of Swan Lake, and Darius Gwathney, 20, who claims to be homeless. Both men admitted to detectives that they committed the burglary and were charged with felony burglary, criminal mischief, and grand larceny. Nichols was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Gwathney was sent to jail without bail. During the investigation, deputies interviewed James “Jimbo” O’Shaughnessy, 25, of Jeffersonville. He was charged with two counts of petit larceny from the Jeff Country Store as well as possession of a hypodermic instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was sent to the county jail in lieu of $250 bail. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s confidential TIPS line at 845-807-0158
